Vocabulary Building from Mr. Osada : Day53
このコラムではLIBERTY代表、藤川恭宏のご学友の国際法の教授であられた長田祐卓 (Osada Yutaka) 先生のボキャブラリー集を皆様に提供させていただきます。
長田先生は慶應義塾大学、法学部、同大学院（博士課程在学中、アメリカトップランキング校の一つ、ジョージタウン大学ローセンターに留学）博士課程終了後、母校慶応大学、駿河台大学、尚美学園大学、大学院で教鞭を取られました。国際法の中でも特に宇宙法を研究され、慶応大学から今年、博士号を授与されました。
このコラムでは特別に長田祐卓先生の長年、蓄積されたとても貴重なボキャブラリー集をご紹介させていただくことになりました。

I bit into something hard and chipped my tooth. 硬いものを噛んで歯を折った。

chug [チャッグ] (vi.) ポッポッという炸裂音を出す、(vt.) （アルコールを）一気に飲む = guzzle

The economy just keeps chugging along. 経済がゆっくりと進展し続ける。

chummy [チャミィ] (adj.) (informal)（古風）とても親しい、仲良しの
She was getting chummy with the reporters. 記者と仲良くなり始めていた。
chump [チャンプ] (n.) (informal) 間抜け、愚か者
chump change (n.) (informal) はした金
His share of the profits was chump change. 利益の彼の取り分ははした金だった。
For all my hard work, all I got was chump change.
懸命に働いたのに、得たのははした金に過ぎなかった。
