このコラムではLIBERTY代表、藤川恭宏のご学友の国際法の教授であられた長田祐卓 (Osada Yutaka) 先生のボキャブラリー集を皆様に提供させていただきます。
長田先生は慶應義塾大学、法学部、同大学院（博士課程在学中、アメリカトップランキング校の一つ、ジョージタウン大学ローセンターに留学）博士課程終了後、母校慶応大学、駿河台大学、尚美学園大学、大学院で教鞭を取られました。国際法の中でも特に宇宙法を研究され、慶応大学から今年、博士号を授与されました。
このコラムでは特別に長田祐卓先生の長年、蓄積されたとても貴重なボキャブラリー集をご紹介させていただくことになりました。

booby-trap [ブービィトゥラップ] (n.) 偽装爆弾、仕掛け罠、(vt.) 爆弾を仕掛ける
Nobody went near the abandoned car in case it was a booby trap.
仕掛け爆弾だといけないので、誰も乗り捨てられた車に近づかない。

book (n.)
fly by the book pilot パイロットの鑑のような飛行
throw book at somebody 誰々の有罪を問う（この場合のbookは，法律書）

boost (n.) 上昇、後押し、援助、励み、上に押し上げること、(vt.) 押し上げる、上昇させる、
販売促進する、電圧を上げる、(slang) 万引きする
This win could give those numbers a boost
この勝利によってそれらの数字を上げることができよう。
One company’s innovation has proven to be a boost to the entire industry.
