Vocabulary Building from Mr. Osada : Day17

このコラムではLIBERTY代表、藤川恭宏のご学友の国際法の教授であられた長田祐卓 (Osada Yutaka) 先生のボキャブラリー集を皆様に提供させていただきます。

 

長田先生は慶應義塾大学、法学部、同大学院（博士課程在学中、アメリカトップランキング校の一つ、ジョージタウン大学ローセンターに留学）博士課程終了後、母校慶応大学、駿河台大学、尚美学園大学、大学院で教鞭を取られました。国際法の中でも特に宇宙法を研究され、慶応大学から今年、博士号を授与されました。

The LDP’s landslide victory in the lower house augurs well for a reinvigorated relationship between the United States and Japan.

衆議院議員選挙での自民党の大勝は日米の再活性化にとって良い兆候だ。

The extended interview augurs well for your acceptance into that law school.

面接が長引いたのはロースクール入学許可の良い兆候だ。

 

augur ill/badly 悪い兆候だ、縁起が悪い

The change augurs ill for the success of the business.

austerity [オステリイティ] 厳格さ、質素、緊縮

avatar [アヴァター] 化身、権化 *ヒンズー教の神の化身

自分の意見を言いたい余り、頻繁にそして想像に絶するほど人の言葉を遮る。
